  1. I think I might have it this time… tiny shrines and offerings to the gods that can be found in every nook and cranny in Bali. These offerings can have fresh flowers, bits of food and a stick of incense. Tiny works of art. However, I don’t know if there is a technical name for them.

  2. I believe that Rose is correct, that these are “banten” or offerings. They are prepared daily (mostly by women). Every offering has at least three ingredients – areca nut, betel leaf, and lime.

  3. They appear to be bricks. There is something covering a portion of them, so I can’t see all of it, but I am pretty convinced that they are bricks – most likely on the ground.
